Penn Memory Center Scholar Emily Largent, JD, PhD, RN, was recently named the Emanuel & Robert Hart Assistant Professorship of Medical Ethics and Health Policy.
“It’s an honor to be the new Emanuel & Robert Hart Assistant Professor of Medical Ethics and Health Policy,” Dr. Largent said. “I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Robert Hart and his wife, Ineza, on several occasions and am so grateful for their support.”
Dr. Largent is the recent recipient of a career development award from the National Institute on Aging whose work has focused on ethical and policy challenges in biomedical research, ethical aspects of Alzheimer’s disease research and care, and how our evolving understanding of the disease affects patients and their families and challenges our legal frameworks.
Dr. Largent said she’s looking forward to the opportunity to pursue important legal and conceptual research as well as advocacy work made possible by the chair. She has been a Penn faculty member since 2017.
Dr. Largent will be taking over the chair from Steven Joffe, MD, MPH, who is currently the Founders Professor of Medical Ethics and Health Policy and Professor of Pediatrics.
