“Diary. Journal. Memoir. How do we choose to tell the stories of our lives and the lives of others? Is it a matter of catharsis, or purging the difficult then closing the book? Is it about recording, holding on to the blessed details time might render fuzzy? Or, is it about learning, extracting wisdom from the messier parts of life? Whatever our reasons, we’ll come together in this workshop to think about how we create characters from the people around us, how to tell true stories ethically, and how to do all this with clarity and grace.
Don’t let the flowery mumbo-jumbo above intimate you. Writers of all levels are welcome. We’re in it together—this is not a math class. There will be a reading assignment to be completed before the workshop so that we can discuss some of the writing strategies the author uses.”
