Are you a college student in the Philadelphia area? Get involved today!
There are two options for students to be involved: Time Together and Weekly Smile.
Time Together
Time Together is an in-person companionship program that connects older adults and college students.
Each student is paired with an older adult. The student and older adult meet and share stories, work together on art projects, and connect on other common interests. Students and older adults meet 1-3 times per week depending on the student’s availability. Students are compensated $10 per hour for Time Together.
Before being paired, students will complete:
- Time Together application
- UPenn’s WorkDay application
- Training that helps students learn more about older adults, dementia, and how to be an effective companion.
- Background check
Weekly Smile
Weekly Smile is a virtual companionship program that connects older adults and college students.
Each student is paired with an older adult. Virtually or over the phone, the student and older adult meet weekly and share stories, work together on art projects, and connect on other common interests. This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity.
