Heather Calvert is a counseling intern at the Penn Memory Center. Heather brings a background in leadership and community building to her role at the Penn Memory Center. She is currently pursuing her M.S.Ed. in counseling at Penn’s Graduate School of Education, combining her 35 years of work experience with a dedication to supporting individuals and families navigating complex life transitions, cognitive changes, and the unique dynamics of caregiving.
Since September 2017, Heather has been the Executive Director of MindCORE, Penn’s hub for the integrative study of the mind. Her career at Penn also includes nearly a decade as the Managing Director of the Botswana-UPenn Partnership, a global health HIV/AIDS program. Her prior experience spans roles within the Wharton School, communications agencies, and a pharmaceutical services start-up. Heather grew up the eldest daughter of teachers on US military based overseas. She holds a BA from Villanova University, as well as an MPA from Penn’s Fels Institute of Government.
Heather lives in West Philadelphia with her family, where she volunteers with The Woodlands and as a neighborhood tree tender. Her diverse professional background, deep Philly roots, and caregiving insight guide her counseling approach, offering compassionate, grounded, and practical support to the PMC community.
